Welcome! I've been at Denver Green School since 2015. I have 2 young children at home, my daughter Violet and son, Henry. I get a lot of surprised looks when I tell people that I teach middle schoolers math - but I seriously love both! Middle schoolers are at such an interesting age where they are still inquisitive but are gaining adult like abilities to learn and socialize. In a former life I was an environmental engineer and love bringing in those real world components to our math class.
On weekends, I enjoy hiking and cross country skiing, especially with my husband and children. I'm also an avid trail runner in my not so plentiful free time =)
I am originally from Boston and moved to Denver a few years ago! I have been teaching for over 10 years and have taught many different science subjects, including chemistry, physics, and computer science. I am excited to be teaching 7th and 8th grade science at DGS and help students develop a curiosity about the natural phenomona that they see in the world around them.
In my free time, I like to go hiking and camping with my family, run, and read!
I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by parents who relished academics and cultural activities. My childhood was filled with learning from books, musicals, and weekend international festivals. In high school, I enjoyed studying Spanish and participated in a family stay in Valencia, Spain. After graduating from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, I worked in technology sales and marketing for IBM for thirteen years. When my children entered public schools, I began teaching after-school Spanish classes and volunteering to tutor a wide variety of learners. This experience motivated me to earn my Masters in Education.
With my husband and children, I enjoy skiing, camping, and hiking in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. I have enjoyed teaching at Denver Green School for the last 11 years, and I look forward to inspiring another group of English Language Learners and aspiring Spanish students at Denver Green School to love learning and to appreciate our natural surroundings.
I grew up camping and fishing in my home state of Idaho. I have been in Colorado for the past 3 years and really enjoy everything that it has to offer. My mother helped form my addiction for traveling and trying new things. I have 2 lovely pets, Biscuit (my 2 year old cat) and Apollo (my 9 year old dog).
I'm so excited to teach World History this year and can't wait for all of the fun things we will do!
