Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center
Check-in time is at 4 pm.
The city runs a subway line called MARTA, which has a station conveniently located inside the Domestic Terminal of the Atlanta Airport. This station is called the “Airport Station” (click on the link for more information). Indeed, the best way to go from the airport to the hotel (except when it is very late) is taking MARTA.
Thus, once you arrive at
Case I: Domestic Terminal:
- Go to the MARTA Airport Station located between the North and South baggage claims.
- Buy a Breeze Ticket "and" pay your fare at a vending machine. (A Breeze Ticket costs $1 and a one-way trip fare costs $2.50.)
- Both Gold and Red line trains will work.
- Get off at North Avenue station and exit at the end of platform in the direction of the train.
When you get out of the station, the corner of 3rd and West Peachtree Street should be at your left. The hotel is at the corner of 5th and Spring St (Spring and West Peachtree are parallel), so it is 3.5 blocks away. When leaving the station, walk 0.5 block to the left, cross West Peachtree St., walk 1.5 block to north, you should see CODA building at your left. Turn left, go through the court yard of CODA building, you should see the hotel at your right.
Hotel check-in is at 4 pm and check-out is at 11 am. Usually hotel will ask you for your credit card for incidental charges. The room will be directly billed to the Math Department.
Case II: International Terminal:
There is a free shuttle at the arrivals level of the international terminal that goes to Domestic Terminal’s baggage claim, and from there you can catch a MARTA train to the hotel.
To reach to the domestic terminal, you may also ride with the "Plane Train" located inside the secure area of the international terminal. For international travelers, after the custom, before leaving the secure area, turn left, you are allowed to be checked again and go through the security check point, and go back to use the plane train.
Both shuttle service and plane train are available at any time and every day.
In general, MARTA is highly recommended in order to avoid Friday afternoon traffic in the city. However, if one gets in late (after 8 or 9 pm) then one may want to take a taxi to the hotel. The train stops service around midnight.
Talks will be at Skiles Building, around Rm 240 corridor. We will simply use one of the classrooms for lecture and another one for refreshments. The faculty lounge is down the hallway and there are spring water and two Keurig coffee machines available. Sandwiches will be catered for lunch. So people do not need to walk a long distance to find restaurants. If the weather is good, there are plenty of outside seatings in the area and we can move the lunch outside.
