Culturally Embedded Lessons for ELA, Social Studies, Science, and Math Alaska Standards
Students look at photos from past Alaska Day events in Sitka and ask who is represented and who is missing. Then they design a parade float or group that tells a community story the parade usually leaves out. The scenario: the mayor has asked the class to help the Alaska Day Committee bring the community together.
