As stated in CR 1-5, the brigade has the authority to appoint commissioned officers in the rank of Cadet Second Lieutenant and promote them to the rank of Cadet Captain. The brigade also has the authority to promote non-commissioned officers to the rank of Cadet Command Sergeant Major.

 Promotion appointments made by the brigade will be "BY THE ORDER OF THE BRIGADE ADVISOR" with consideration being given to the recommendation of the promotion board and the concurrence of the commandant of cadets and principal of the unit to which the cadet belongs.

 When a cadet is attempting to promote to a Field Grade rank, the Brigade still needs to be informed. 

If a cadet participates in a Brigade-level event that encourages promotions (eg. NCOA), orders will be written by the Brigade. This does not include Field Grade Promotions, however. 

Cadets attempting to promote to a Company Grade rank must fill out the following form below, and submit the required forms. Documents that cannot be submitted with the packet for whatever reason must be explained in full in a memorandum. 

Please note that if a cadet is attempting to promote through the State-level for a Company Grade or Field Grade rank, the form still needs to be completed for review. 

• CCC Form 8 (8-B for Company Grade, and 8-C for Field Grade), which has been signed by the school commandant and principle

• Current, "true copy" of Service Record/Form 13 (this is also where we shall check to see if you have completed and passed your annual Fitnessgram Test)

• Certified transcripts showing all high school courses and grades

• Certified discipline record

• Certified attendance record from the most recent school year 

• current year (if the package is submitted between 1 July and 31 December) or from the current school year if submitted between 1 January and 30 June.

• A COLOUR photograph of the cadet in either the Class A or Class B uniform (head and torso should be visible, with no headgear on)

• Completed PTA sheet

• Any used waivers

• Cadet Second Lieutenant and Cadet Major Only: Certificate of Achievement from Promotion Test 

• Field Grade Only: Letter of Recommendation from school commandant

If ANY of these documents are missing, they must be explained in a memorandum that is attached to the Promotion Packet

These packets will be reviewed, and a board will be scheduled. Do NOT board without BDE approval, otherwise, board scores are at risk of cancellation.
