Hello STEM families!

I hope you all had a great summer! If we haven't met yet, I'm Ms. Rose - I teach Middle School Social Studies and I also coordinate the sports program. We are excited to offer sports this year through the CPS SCORE! program. The following sports are offered for the Fall season: 

• Girls Volleyball, Boys Volleyball, Boys Soccer 

  • Practice details will be announced after we confirm we have enough students for a team. If we have a team, practices will be held after school at STEM.

  • Games will take place on Saturdays at a local high school. The season for 7th/8th graders will begin first and games will be played in September/October starting on September 19th. The 5th/6th games will be played in October starting on October 3rd.

• Girls & Boys Cross Country 

  • Practice details for cross country will be announced after we confirm we have enough students for a team.If we have a team, practices will be held after school at STEM

  • Meets will be held at parks on various dates in September/October. 

Students may participate in multiple sports per season :)

Fee: Free 

Eligibility: All 5th-8th grade students can participate. There are no try-outs and students do not need prior experience to participate. 

Academic Eligibility: Students must have and maintain a C average in their classes to  participate.  If a student becomes academically ineligible (we will check Quarter 1 Progress Reports and Report Cards), there is a process for rejoining the team once grades improve. Our goal is for all interested students to keep their grades up and benefit from playing sports!

How To Register: Complete the registration form at this link by Tuesday, August 25th 

• After you register, your child will receive a paper permission slip from me with more details. Completion of the paper permission slip is required for your student to stay for practices.

STEM Sportsmanship Policy: The STEM sports program is proud of our long history of sportsmanship, displayed by STEM student athletes, coaches, and fans. Whether at practice or a game/competition, STEM student athletes must show respect to their teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, etc. STEM fans are expected to show sportsmanship at games/competitions by cheering on all student athletes and remaining positive in spite of missed calls, losses, or other difficult situations. We are grateful for your support!

STEM Jersey: If your student would like a STEM jersey, please order here by September 1st 

STEM students wear the same jersey for all STEM sports teams. Students can also wear it to school as uniform. The jersey is made from a dri-fit material. The cost is $25 payable by cash to Ms. Rose.
