WOW! You did it! You have researched DST, wondered about what you didn't know, found interesting ideas, evaluated those ideas to determine if they were reliable and relevant and re-developed your question to target a specific area of interest! That is impressive! The final step in this process is to be sure you cite all your information!!!
What does CITE mean? Simply it means to give credit where credit it due. You can't just cut and paste the information you read in an article, you also shouldn't copy exactly what you learn from a video clip without giving credit to the person who actually found the information and shared it. Think about it this way, if you and your friends create the next great Tik Tok video, you want people to give you props for it right? You don't want others to say it is their idea when it clearly came from someone else? Same idea....so let's learn how to cite!
The citation process consists of more than just giving others credit for their work, it also means paraphrasing information you read and making sure you understand what the information is telling you. After all, if you don't understand it, how can you expect others to understand?
Why and how we cite sources can be complicated, reading through this brief article on why we need to cite may clarify this process for you.
When you paraphrase, you need to think about how you will use the information. What will you do with the information? What does the information mean? How will you share it? This document allows you to question the information you have.
