I want to share ideas and lessons that I have developed with librarians and educators world-wide. After teaching in a high school library for 10 years, I returned to teach in an elementary school. I combined my love for teaching with my love for learning and I was able to create some pretty terrific projects with my 6th-8th students over the past 6 years. I was able to get quite a bit of funding through Donors Choose and by writing mini project proposals for the Chicago Foundation for Education, too. Some of my grant proposals culminated in purchasing technology for the students. Here is a brief list of what I acquired through the years:
LittleBits Kits
Arduino components
Vex Robotics kits
iPads
Chromebooks
Digital Cameras
Field Trips
Guest Speakers - Miss Mia from Chicagogo, Marjane Satrapi, and others
Through the years my students have pushed me to learn new and interesting ways to integrate library skills into meaningful projects. I hope you will like some of the projects we created that I have included in this digital portfolio and I hope that you will visit this site often to see what's going on in my journey to be a terrific librarian. Email me anytime, eeoddo@cps.edu - I love to make new friends! Find me IRL at Curie High School.
