For more than 40 years (approx. 1945 – 1987) the property at 6 Opening Hill Road in Madison, CT, was the home of Emily Hall and Burton G. Tremaine II. After several changes in ownership, the foundation acquired the foreclosed property in February 2023.
We are now conducting a visioning process to help determine the highest philanthropic uses for the property, along with its architectural legacy that includes additions from the 1950s that were designed by renowned architect, Philip Johnson.
In June 2023, a wide-ranging group of people who are invited to contribute their unique expertise and important perspectives related to opportunities and considerations for the Town of Madison, future visitors to the property, and the Foundation’s living legacies related to its art, environment, and education missions.
