The Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade is located in the very center or the capital (https://www.fil.bg.ac.rs/en), on the most central and commercial street Knez Mihailova. Its quite rich tradition can be traced back to the year 1873 when the first generations of young Serbian students who after having finished their secondary education (Lyceum) began their specialized philological education at University. The Faculty has been operating and constantly developing as a completely autonomous educational member of the University of Belgrade since 1960. In terms of structure, it consists of several departments where more than 30 foreign languages, literatures and cultures are taught. Each department has got its own library. In addition to the departments and libraries, there are also several research centers. The Faculty publishes a significant number of both specialized scientific journals (which are internationally recognized, too) and scientific publications either in Serbian or in foreign languages. During each school year, the Faculty organizes a plenty of cultural events in cooperation with many cultural institutions from Serbia and abroad, usually with assistance and support of foreign embassies.
