"We, the people of the state of Minnesota, grateful to God for our civil and religious liberty, and desiring to perpetuate its blessings and secure the same to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution."
~Preamble to the MN Constitution
According to Article I Section 1 of the Minnesota Constitution, the object of government is "instituted for the security, benefit and protection of the people, in whom all political power is inherent, together with the right to alter, modify or reform government whenever required by the public good."
Our mission is to use the political power that is inherent in us as Minnesota citizens to shape the government. If we, as a people, yield that right to the government, then we have no one to blame but ourselves. It is on us to be responsible citizens to guide the character of our state.
We believe we are “endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights.” We support defending the right to life, protecting religious and political liberties, and expect that government treats all of its citizens equally under the law. We support respecting personal privacy and property, protecting the right to bear arms, and giving workers the right to decide whether to join a union.
We support lowering the tax burden, exercising spending restraint, and creating and maintaining a fair, honest, and competitive business environment to promote economic prosperity and once again make Minnesota the economic engine of the Upper Midwest.
