After a pilot is forced to make an emergency landing in the Sahara Desert, he befriends a young prince from outer space; the friendship conjures up stories of journeys through the solar system for the stranded aviator.

The film is based on the best-selling classic book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. The music for this film version was arranged and orchestrated by Angela Morley.

Morley was born in Leeds on March 10th 1924 and had a long and distinguished career as a composer, arranger, orchestrator, conductor and musician. Alongside The Little Prince, Morley's vast film credits include Watership Down (1978), The Slippe and the Rose: The Story of Cinderella (1976) and Peeping Tom (1960).


This special screening has been organised in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary Trans Conference, Leeds which is taking place on the 16th March at Leeds City Museum. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion about the life and work of Angela Morely featuring GossipGrrrl and Olivia Thomas from Leeds Queer Film Festival.


Olivia Thomas (She/Her) is a proud Yorkshire trans woman, Olivia has been part of the programming team at Leeds Queer Film Festival since 2018. Her work also includes programming for Bradford Queer Film Festival, the Queer Short Film Competition at Leeds International Film Festival and Trans Pride Leeds Film Night. She also has extensive film production experience across feature films, documentaries and shorts as well as 4 years working in the Film Office at Screen Yorkshire supporting productions of all shapes and sizes to film in the region. Her programming interests include Yorkshire queer films, Brazilian cinema and documentaries about protest and activism.  


GossipGrrrl is an Artist, Historian and Cher fan based in Leeds. Her recent focus has been transgender history in Yorkshire.
