Predatory journals
A WebQuest
A WebQuest
As you progress through the different steps of this WebQuest, you will explore the idea of "predatory journals." The idea of "predatory" is an abstract one, and as you work your way through the resources here, you will need to explore and decide for yourself what constitutes predatory behavior from a scholarly publisher and what practices may or may not be considered predatory. By the end of the assignment, you should have a deeper understanding of the meaning and implication of what it means to call something a predatory journal.
Students will work through the following five sections to complete the WebQuest (links are at the top of every page):
A lesson plan has been included for teachers who would like to use this project in their classrooms (the "Teacher" link).
