Revision lesson on ratios and rates
- In groups of 4, students conduct a brainstorm activity and write down anything related to ratios and rates that they know
- Students will present what they have written down to the class
- Review simplifying ratios using loop cards
- Review on drawing distance/time graphs
Use the equation y = k/x to model inverse proportion
- Students use graphing software (e.g. GeoGebra) to find the relationship between the ratios of the x and y axis on an inversely proportional graph. Through this, students arrive to the conclusion that the equation y= k/x represents the equation of an inversely proportional graph
Extrapolate data from inversely proportional graphs to find an unknown quantity
- Students find an unknown quantity by using appropriate information (example: given y and k, find x)
- Students use graphing software (e.g. GeoGebra) to extrapolate data from an inversely proportional graph and find an unknown quantity (example: given a y value, find the x value by observing the graph)
