Although not directly related to the Four Track Nights Sessions project. This research project by Moritz Cheung and Christopher Duddy will be run parallel to 4TN.
The 2023 and 2024 projects have been supported by the British Arts Network and will look into mapping aspects and experiences of experimental audio and digital visual artists in the experimental sound scene in the UK
The 2024 project has once again been supported by the British Art Network and will look into the experiences of experimental audio artists as well as the diversity of artists and audiences within the genre in the UK.Â
We also wish to find out more about the support available in the form of performance spaces, recognistion and funding opportunities for these artists. While also asking what type of support would help improve access and diversity.
Mapping UK Sound Artists and Contrasting the Rural/City Experience - LoFi Gallery - Paisley - September 2023
The first research project carried out over a year from the end of 2022 and ending in September 2023 grew from Chris and Moritz meeting as part of the Emerging Curators Group 2022. A project run by the British Art Network, supported by Tate and The Paul Mellon Centre.
In this we looked at where experimental sound artists met, found opportunites to play and present work and where they sought inspiration. The research contrasted the experience of artists in rural areas with those of city based artists.
The projects ended with a roundtable of the findings with five artists presenting their views and experience. There was a live sharing of three artists work and we successfully live streamed the whole event.
