Nrf online power profiler for ble has been used at the device to determine battery lifetime. NRf52832 has been selected as the device’s microcontroller. The device uses 3 volts as the main power source and the following table of data have been used at calculating the power profiler ble table.
The power profile ble table that has been created for this device thus, we can get the load current average is approxiametly 10 mA as shown in figure 7.1, once the ble radio is on and connected. The average battery capacity of a CR2032 coin cell battery is 220 mAh. With these values, a coin cell battery can work and communicate for 22 hours without stopping.
Even though 22 hours is sufficient for a peripheral device that works only with a coin cell battery, A 5 volt 3-volt voltage regulator has been added to the device. With this regulator, the device can use a 5-volt rechargeable lithium-ion voltage source like a battery and have a much more longer battery life. For this regulator to work 2 female output pins have been added to the PCB. 5 volt battery can connect through those pins and with the help of the regulator circuit can have a 3-volt battery source. 5-volt lithium-ion battery can have at least 2000 mAh. Using the same formula 200 hours which is 1 week 1 day and 1 hour have been calculated as the battery life of the device without turning off
