# ToddlerTalk Privacy Policy
**Effective Date: September 7, 2026**
ToddlerTalk ("we," "our," or "us") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS app, ToddlerTalk.
## 1. Information We Collect
**Audio Recordings.** You may record short clips of your toddler's voice. These recordings are processed in real time to generate translations and are not stored on our servers.
**Usage Data.** We collect information about how the app is used so we can understand which features help and where the app fails. This includes:
- Which screens and features you open, and when
- Whether a recording succeeded, how long it was, and whether the microphone permission was granted
- Whether an analysis succeeded or failed, how long it took, how many translations were returned, and an error category when it fails
- Subscription flow events, including when the paywall is shown, when a purchase is started, and whether it completed, was cancelled, or failed, along with the subscription product identifier and a general reason for failure
- The age in months you set for your toddler
- Technical details: app version and build, iOS version, and device model (for example "iPhone15,3")
This usage data is associated with a **random device identifier** that we generate when you first use the app. This identifier is not your name, email, Apple ID, or advertising identifier, and it is not linked to your identity. It does allow us to recognize the same installation over time, which is how we tell whether a problem affects one device or many. It is reset if you delete and reinstall the app.
**What Usage Data Never Includes.** We do not include your audio recordings, transcriptions of your toddler's speech, or the translations produced in this usage data.
**No Account Required.** ToddlerTalk does not require a user account, and we do not collect your name, email address, postal address, phone number, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers.
## 2. How We Use Your Information
- To process your toddler's speech and provide AI-generated suggestions
- To measure how features are used, so we can decide what to build and improve
- To monitor reliability and performance, and to detect failures and outages
- To debug and resolve technical issues
- To understand how people move through our subscription flow, and to diagnose failed or interrupted purchases
- To detect and prevent abuse of our service, including rate limiting
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles or to make automated decisions about you.
## 3. Data Retention
- We do not permanently store audio recordings.
- Transcriptions and AI suggestions are temporarily processed in memory and saved only on your device. Deleting an item from your history in the app removes it from your device.
- Usage data is kept only as long as it remains useful for the purposes described in Section 2. We do not currently operate a fixed deletion schedule for it. You may request deletion of the usage data associated with your device at any time; see Section 7.
## 4. Sharing of Information
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.
- AI processing involves sending temporary audio data to our processing partner (OpenAI) under strict privacy agreements. Audio is used to produce your result and is not retained by us.
- Our backend and database are hosted on Supabase, which stores data on our behalf as a service provider. Usage data and service logs are stored there.
- We may disclose information if required to do so by law.
## 5. Children's Privacy
ToddlerTalk is designed for parents and caregivers, not for unsupervised use by children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Audio of your toddler is processed to produce a translation and is not stored on our servers. The age in months you set for your toddler is stored with usage data, as described in Section 1, so we can understand how well the app performs for different ages. We do not collect a child's name or any other identifying detail about your child.
## 6. Security
All data transmissions are encrypted using industry-standard protocols. Access to stored data is restricted, and our database denies direct client access by default.
## 7. Your Choices and Rights
Because ToddlerTalk has no accounts, we identify your data solely by the random device identifier described in Section 1.
- **Access.** You may ask what usage data we hold for your device.
- **Deletion.** You may ask us to delete the usage data associated with your device.
- **Stop collection.** You may ask us to stop collecting usage data from your device.
- **Local data.** Your history is stored on your device. Deleting the app removes it, along with the random device identifier.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. To exercise any of these, contact us using Section 9. We may need your device identifier to locate your data, and we will explain how to find it.
## 8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Significant changes will be communicated in-app.
