Culturally Embedded Lessons for ELA, Social Studies, Science, and Math Alaska Standards
In the spring, students are working with the Science Center, Scientists in Schools program to expand on their ELA unit. This unit takes students through the historical, traditional, and current status of the volcano, L´úx Shaa.
These lessons can be taught independently of each other or in combination. Use this as a resource to enhance student understanding of Alaska Day here in Sitka. These lessons build off of what students learn in the previous grades and prepares them for what they may learn in the next grades.
Lesson coming soon
Raven Writes Lessons were created by Sealaska Heritage Institute. These lessons are specific to the Juneau area, but with coordination with the cultural department they can be adapted for Sitka.
