Our experiment aimed to understand how the microbiome differs between the soil of hot peppers and sweet peppers. We intended to understand how different soil conditions corresponded with the various species of plants (Capsicum annum L. and Capsicum chinense Jacq.). Soils for agriculture typically require specific conditions within mineral components, soil organic matter, oxygen, and water (Parikh & James). We were able to use this information to communicate with the Lincoln Sharing Garden which soil conditions will optimize the produce product.
