Sandra Kay Keely, a native Saint Louisan, has dedicated her life to community empowerment and justice. Her journey began with her parents, who migrated from Mississippi to escape Jim Crow, and continued through her pivotal role in the historic campaigns of the first African-American mayors of Atlanta and St. Louis.
After a successful career in real estate, which included her proudest achievement of relocating over a hundred families after the Great Flood of 1993, Sandra served as a Citizen Deputy Juvenile Officer. This experience, along with her work with single mothers, revealed the devastating impact of mass incarceration on African-American men in her community.
This led her to found 3 Daughters and 1000 Sons, a non-profit dedicated to supporting family reunification, community revitalization, and economic freedom. The organization's initial campaign is to expunge 1,000 criminal records, a powerful step toward building a more just community for all.
A native of St. Louis, Carol Owens is a key contributor to 3 Daughters and 1000 Sons.
As a longtime colleague and friend of founder Sandra Kay Keely, she has been instrumental in supporting the organization’s mission.
In addition to her community work, Carol is also an entrepreneur and the founder of Silky Smooth, a hand and body lotion business.
