February 2026:
The 26 windows are Andersen 400 series with wood interior and black exterior.
Process:
Choose and order windows. Actual size is one inch smaller than rough opening.
Make a perfectly rectangular template for each window size.
Set level & plumb and centered; mark the outline 1/4 larger on the interior of sheathing.
Cut out the rectangle. Add sheathing (or thin plywood) to sides if needed/possible.
Clap board onto sill to create angle down & out. Counter pieces under side jamb.
Zip tape outside-to-wall faces of sides and header and sill. Stretch tape at corners.
Dry fit the window. Then add caulking/sealant. Set and fasten window. Horseshoes at bottom.
Zip tape sides then head.
Make then add head flashing and nail into place.
Tape over junction where find meets wall.
