Edible Solar System

Use simple ingredients, like fruit, to eat your way across the solar system.

Note: This activity is designed to show the basic structure of the solar system and some of its characteristics. Relative sizes of the items representing the sun and planets and their distance from each other are not to scale.

Gather the following items and arrange them as described on a plate. After completing your model, reward yourself with a tasty solar system snack!

Ingredients

· Sun: orange slice

· Mars: half a cherry tomato

· Venus: strawberry slice

· Earth: banana slice

· Mercury: corn kernel

· Jupiter: Mini Babybel cheese, wrapper removed

· Neptune: blueberry

· Uranus: grape slice

· Saturn: Mini Babybel cheese, wrapper partially removed (as pictured)

· Asteroid belt: Mini Babybel cheese, unwrapped and broken into pieces
