About the workshop

The 27th East Asia Submillimeter-wave Receiver Technology Workshop brings together researchers, engineers, and students working on millimeter- and submillimeter-wave receiver technologies for radio astronomy and related fields. The 27th workshop (EARW2026) will be held in Okayama, Japan, from 2 to 4 November 2026.

As in recent years, the workshop is co-hosted with the RIKEN–NICT Joint Workshop on Terahertz Technology, promoting interdisciplinary exchange from microwave to terahertz frequencies beyond radio astronomy.

Topics include:

• Detector technologies

• Wideband receiver technologies

• Cryogenic technologies

• Large-scale and high-speed spectroscopy

• Antennas and transmission optics

• Receiver evaluation systems

• Progress and results of radio observation projects (ground-based instruments and satellite missions)

• Applications in science and industry beyond radio astronomy, including light dark matter searches in particle physics and quantum computing

The program consists of invited and contributed oral presentations, and poster sessions. We expect around 100 participants. All sessions will basically be held in English. However, Japanese is acceptable for bachelor's student posters only.

The previous workshop, EARW2025, was hosted by ASIAA in Taiwan.
