Special Programs

Soil in the Arts Programming: Through its ‘Artist in Residence Program,’ the School of Environmental Sciences endeavors “To bring Art and Science together to broaden possibilities, perspectives and critical discourse”. In collaboration with the School of Fine Arts and Music, the artist-in-residence program will develop activities to engage the artistic community around the 24th WCSS, with visions for a dedicated workshop and exhibition of art related to soil.

Technical Workshops and Webinars: Drawing upon the capacity of Canadian soil scientist and their international colleagues, specialized Technical Workshops, providing training in advanced research techniques, will be organized during the Pre-Congress week. To be held facilities available at the University of Guelph, these workshops will give priority to graduate students and early career researchers/practitioners. Efforts will be made to offer hybrid delivery, with both in-person and virtual attendance. Where appropriate and feasible, we will work with any organization wanting to recognize professional development credits for this training.

Working with local partners, such as Glacier Farm Media, as well as Soils at Guelph, Webinars, directed at soil practitioners, will be organized on topical issues, engaging the expertise and experience of prominent soil scientists from around the world.
