FAQ
What can I expect from my JA Inspire experience?
After completing the full JA Inspire program (7 sessions, including a virtual and/or in-person event), you will:
Understand why career planning is important.
Know how to create a personalized plan for your future.
Evaluate potential careers and career clusters based on your current values, skills, and interests.
Know where to find accurate career information to make informed decisions about high school classes as well as continuing education/training needs.
Be prepared to discuss your future with adults and professionals.
How do I know if I will be doing an in-person or virtual event?
Ask your teacher which type of event you will be attending.
What should I prepare for, if I am participating in a virtual and/or in-person event?
Be prepared to learn!
JA Inspire Sessions 1-5 will prepare you to explore the virtual event (JA Here to Career) and/or interact with industry professionals at an in-person event. Session Five, in particular, will guide you through what to expect from your JA Inspire experience.
Below are a few tips and tricks for success:
Ask your teacher about expectations for the day. Will there be a graded assignment that you need to complete during the event? If you are attending an in-person event, is there a dress code and a device policy?
Have a plan! Review the Exhibitor Table and make note of attending companies in career clusters that are of interest to you. You will want to explore these profiles (virtual) or find the company's table (in-person).
Take notes. You will be completing a reflection activity in Session Seven, so having notes to refer to when finishing this handout will be helpful.
Read the JA Code of Conduct. JA provides positive and enriching learning experiences for diverse participants and partners. Violations of the JA Code of Conduct may result in your removal from the event.
Review the JA Here to Career walk-through video to familiarize yourself with the platform layout.
Prepare for interaction opportunities by practicing an elevator pitch, preparing set questions to ask exhibitors, and making business cards (in-person event only).
JA Inspire is over. What should I do now?
JA Here to Career is available for exploration 24/7, 365-days-a-year. Company profiles will be periodically updated with information and in-demand job needs, so please check back, even after JA Inspire curriculum wraps up.
