HAPPY NEW YEAR!
In order to be part of the program, one aspect we look at is vocals. Singing is done all the time here within the program and we look for choristers with potential singing talent that we can work with and begin tuning.
Majority of the time, we meet via google meets to give our choristers the opportunity to do other activities that are happening at LAMS, as well to give them the chance to get home early and not worry about arriving home late. There is although times in which we meet in person through the school day or outdoors to prepare more efficiant.
One major aspect we work on with our choristers is building stage presences, being comfortable/confident on stage etc and with our online concerts, our choristers are slowly becoming comfortable with the space as well as learning how to fill the space in order to put on a show, as well learn to sing as a choir. With our live concerts, our choristers will begin to learn how to sing in front of many people as well, learn to put on a show by entertaining the audience with more than just singing.
Throughout the year, we usually have various concerts such as Halloween, Holiday, Valentines, Black History Month, & Spring Concert and recently added POP & Pride Concert. All these concert exposes our choristers to music from all eras as well as also teaching our choristers to learn how to manage their time since they will have a busy calendar.
Vocal performance is always going to be present within their time in the program but other art forms that we incorporate within our concert are acting and dance (more show choir movement) Acting is one our major focus points in the program because drama complements with singing which adds more to a performance. Dance is not what we focus on but simple show choir movement is added to many of our pieces.
Throughout the year, we offer audition opportunities for interested choristers which is usually during the Sept-Oct (Slot 1) Dec-Jan (Slot 2) Mar-April (Slot 3) Information on auditions are always posted on our audition page (CLICK HERE) As well as our soical media and throughout the school building.
