The Australian Air Force Cadets

The Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC) is a youth oriented organisation that is administered and actively supported by the Royal Australian Air Force.

The AAFC will teach you valuable life skills and will help you develop qualities including leadership, self-reliance, confidence, teamwork and communication.

Some activities undertaken by the AAFC include flying, fieldcraft, adventure training, firearms safety training, drill and ceremonial, service knowledge, aeromodelling, navigation and gliding.

Our fundamental aim is to foster qualities that will enable cadets to become responsible young adults, who will make a valuable contribution to the community. No matter what career you choose, the AAFC provides a foundation of knowledge and skills that will assist you towards your future.

The Squadron

No. 220 Squadron (Clayfield) of 2 Wing, Australian Air Force Cadets, is situated at Aviation High School and parades on Monday nights, 1815 – 2115.

COMMANDING OFFICER

Our Commanding Officer is Flight Lieutenant (AAFC) Paul Rowbotham.

Paul has been a member of the Australian Air Force Cadets for over 21 years, firstly as a Cadet and then a member of Staff. During his time at 2 Wing he has been the Commanding Officer of 217 Squadron (Redlands) and 212 Squadron (Redcliffe), 207 Squadron (Nambour) and 223 Squadron (Caloundra) in addition to holding several Senior positions as Staff Officer Training, Regional Executive Officer (South) and Staff Officer Operations in 2 Wing Headquarters.

CADET EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Our Cadet Executive Officer (CXO) is Cadet Under Officer Brendan Miles. Brendan has been a member of the Australian Air Force Cadets since 2013 and has risen through the ranks to become the Squadron's highest ranking Cadet. Brendan is also a qualified pilot with hours being flown in both Glider and Powered aircraft.

CADET SQUADRON WARRANT OFFICER

Cadet Warrant Officer Jack Brook, as Squadron Warrant Officer is responsibile for all matters Ceremonial including the Dress and Bearing of all members along with ensuing the morale of all Cadets in the Squadron. Jack has been a member of the Australian Air Force Cadets since 2014 and has risen through the ranks to become the Squadron's second highest ranking Cadet.
