Once you open the record for your assigned compound, scroll down to the Experimental Spectra section. There you will find a tab labeled Mass. This is where you'll find all sources for Mass Spectrum. Click on any of the available (linked) spectra.

For the next step, you'll need to switch to the "References" tab on the SciFinder homepage. Search with your assigned compound. On the results page, you will want to filter the results on the left side. Select "Journal" under "document type". Click "view all" on the Substances Role filter. Expand that menu, and select all options that contain the words synthesis or purification. Hit apply and choose an article from these results. You can filter your results more if you want. 

Remember, you only need the abstract of the article, not the whole article. When you find the article for your assignment, click on the title. On the article page, click the download button and select "abstract" to only include that in your download.
