Our English Morning Assembly on Wednesday, 15th December was much more merry!
Our friends from the Island School delivered the assembly which was broadcast around the school in the classrooms. Ng Yuk students answered a series of questions about Christmas through the online platform ‘Kahoot’ and there were prizes to be won too. We hope the Island School students can return in the future for more themed assembly quizzes.
Sprouts Foundation NETs’ Christmas activity
Our NET teachers, Mr. Sam and Mr. Nic, from Sprouts Foundation did not slow down for Christmas! They went to all classes to conduct some Christmas Games and sing some carols! Students learned some Christmas vocabulary and then played bingo to decide who should pull the Christmas cracker. Students finally learned some Christmas cracker jokes.
A Christmas Wish’ English activity
In the final week of term before the Christmas holiday, Ng Yuk English Ambassadors held their annual Christmas activity. This year the theme was "A Christmas Wish". English Ambassadors encouraged their classmates to write short wishes and tie them on the Christmas tree, "for Santa to read", and if they had been good then perhaps this wish would come true on Christmas Day. Wishes included better grades, love and health for their friends and family, and the subsiding of the global pandemic. There were some wishes including a new iPhone or iPad, as well as new clothes and jewellery.
Student Reflections:
1D Sam Ching
I enjoyed this activity. I thought about what I really wanted for Christmas and how to write the message to Santa! I asked for 3 things and got 2 of them on Christmas morning!
1D Marie Ng
This was a very meaningful activity for us all. My English teacher helped my class think about things we could wish for, not just for ourselves but for the whole world. I really enjoyed reading the other students' wishes and prayers.
