ABOUT THE CONCERT

What is the Concert?

Our annual Concert gives students the opportunity to perform on stage in costume for an audience. All choreography is learnt during regular class time.

Stage rehearsals are held at Koorliny Arts Centre during the two weeks leading up to the Concert, on your child's usual dance day.

Costumes are hired to help keep costs down and are provided at stage rehearsals.

Most importantly, just like our classes, our focus for Concert is FUN!

Is Concert compulsory?

No. Most students participate in our annual Concert, but it is not mandatory.

Where is the Concert held?

The main theatre at Koorliny Arts Centre, Kwinana.

How long is the Concert?

We aim to keep each show to approximately one hour.

Each class performs one dance, with all students returning to the stage for final bows at the end.

Why isn't the Concert at the end of the year?

December is often incredibly busy for families. Holding our Concert early in Term 4 makes the end of the year a little more relaxed for everyone.

Is my child automatically included in the Concert?

Yes. All students enrolled in afternoon classes are automatically included.

If your child will not be participating, please let us know.

COSTUMES & APPEARANCE

What are the Concert participation fees?

Costume hire is $15–$25 per costume + GST.

Preschool and Junior Jazz/Tap classes use one costume for both dances, so only one costume hire fee applies.

When are costume fees due?

All costume fees are billed in Term 3.

Can we keep the costumes?

No. Our costumes are hired and must be returned after the Concert.

Hiring allows us to keep costs much lower for families, as purchasing costumes to keep would generally cost $80+ each.

Does my child need a specific hairstyle or makeup?

We keep things as simple as possible.

Hair: High ponytail
Makeup: No makeup required

Older students are welcome to wear light makeup if they wish.

Do I need to provide dance shoes?

Yes. Students provide their own dance shoes.

Jazz: Jazz shoes
Tap: Tap shoes
Hip Hop: Sneakers
Lyrical/Contemporary: Bare feet

TICKETS & SHOWS

How do I purchase Concert tickets?

Tickets can be purchased online via the ticket link or directly through Koorliny Arts Centre.

Tickets go on sale 10 October 2026.

Concerts generally sell out, so we recommend purchasing early.

What type of tickets are available?

All tickets are reserved seating, with a specific row and seat number.

How many shows will my child perform in?

Both!

All students perform in the 11:00am and 2:00pm shows on Saturday 24 October.

Do I need tickets for both shows?

Only if you would like to watch both.

Both concerts have the same program, with presentations taking place at the end of the 2:00pm Concert.

Can I video or take photos during the performance?

No. Personal recording is not permitted during performances due to music copyright, video licensing and venue requirements.

A professionally recorded digital Concert video is available to order for $25.

OTHER QUESTIONS

What if my child doesn't participate in Concert?

They can absolutely continue attending class.

Students who aren't participating will still learn the Concert routine during class but will be positioned to the side when working on formations.

What happens after Concert?

Classes continue for the remainder of Term 4!

We extend and combine some classes for a little extra end-of-year fun and give students opportunities to try different dance styles they may have seen in the Concert.
