2026 Tri-Region Conference Altruistic Project
Las Vegas's Opportunity Village is a nonprofit organization that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Founded in 1954, it has become a vital part of the Las Vegas community by offering job training, employment opportunities, day programs, and inclusive events. Instead of focusing on what people with disabilities can’t do, Opportunity Village helps individuals discover their talents and contribute to society in meaningful ways.
The organization provides a wide range of services that directly benefit both its participants and the city as a whole. Through vocational training and supported employment programs, people with disabilities are able to work in real jobs, earn an income, and build independence. Opportunity Village also runs social and recreational programs that help participants develop friendships, confidence, and life skills. Well-known community events, like the Magical Forest holiday attraction (at which every Las Vegas chapter has volunteered, with Alpha Chapter supporting for the past 15+ years running), not only raise funds but also bring Las Vegas residents together in celebration and inclusion.
Your leadership conference team chose the Opportunity Village as our conference altruistic project. This project will make a lasting impact because it directly changes lives while strengthening the community. Supporting their programs means giving people with disabilities the chance to live with dignity, purpose, and joy. It also allows us to be part of a project that has visible, meaningful results for both the individuals served and the wider Las Vegas community. By partnering with Opportunity Village, we would be investing in empowerment, equality, and compassion.

Since June 1986, when members, chapters, and states/provinces/nations started sending their contributions for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to International Headquarters to be recorded and forwarded, the membership has contributed more than $230,000.
Improved therapy has dramatically increased survival rates for children with cancer over the past three decades, but worldwide, fewer than 30% of children with cancer have access to modern treatment. The mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's International Outreach Program is to improve the survival rates of children with catastrophic illnesses worldwide, through the transfer of knowledge, technology, and organizational skills.
The Alpha Delta Kappa Foundation started a five-year St. Jude Altruistic Project during the 1981-1982 fiscal year to send at least a $60,000 annual contribution to St. Jude. This program and an additional $61,000 in recognition of our Founder, Agnes Shipman Robertson, was completed in the 1985-1986 fiscal year. Since that time, an annual contribution has been made from the Foundation funds to St. Jude for a total of $1,203,600. Adding the membership’s contribution of $230,000, Alpha Delta Kappa has contributed a grand total of $1,433,600 to help children plagued with dread disease through research and treatment. Adding donations made directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital from chapters on the local level, proceeds from Math-a-thon events, letter-writing campaigns and other efforts, cumulative Alpha Delta Kappa contributions have reached nearly $3 million.
Eighty-five cents of every dollar received supports the research and treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
For every dollar donated to the Alzheimer’s Association: 27 cents is used for fundraising, 6 cents for administration; 73 cents is used for Alzheimer’s care, support, research, awareness and advocacy.
Alpha Delta Kappa is a proud global team of the Alzheimer’s Association. We are committed to join together to use our creativity and passion to raise funds and awareness for the cure, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
The Longest Day is the day with the most light - the summer solstice. Alpha Delta Kappa chapters gather together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's through a fundraising activity of their choice.
Alzheimer's Association
At Alpha Delta Kappa's 2013 International Convention, delegates voted to support the Alzheimer’s Association. Alzheimer’s Association is the leading global, voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care and support and the largest private, nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research. Its mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and support for all affected, and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
Alpha Delta Kappa donates to the Alzheimer's Association in two ways:
Annual $35,000 contribution from the Foundation
Generous donations raised by chapters and members
Since 2013, Alpha Delta Kappa has raised over $1 Million dollars for the Alzheimer's Association in the name of Alpha Delta Kappa.
