2015 Blades players and families,

Congratulations to the players on being selected to the 2015 Blades team. This is a very fun experience to represent the state of Alaska for youth hockey. We will be attending some exciting tournaments this year, the stars and stripes tournament in Minnesota April 30th to May 3rd https://www.mnmadehockeytournaments.com/starsstripes and Coast 2 coast tournament June 17th to 21st  https://www.c2cinternationalcup.com/page/show/8852305-tournament-guide-details. During tryouts Emily had a QR code to tell us the players that were interested in both or only one tournament. We are still missing some responses if you can please reply to myself or Emily for the players that we are missing info for. See the image below for who we are missing info from.

My name is Derek Weglin and I will be the head coach this year, I had the chance to meet some of you at tryouts and I look forward to meeting the rest of you.I commit to give every player on our roster full attention and respect.  I commit that we will instruct the players on next level hockey. We will endeavor to build a team and create lasting memories. In return I request that we use uplifting and affirming language and communication.  I request that we build each other up and strive to bring out the best versions of ourselves. This is a great group of kids and I look forward to coaching them and getting to know them better after the regular season.

Emily Wettin is going to be our team manager this year, She/Blades will be in contact with you for getting info about kids sizes for Swag bags and Jerseys ordered. Thanks Emily for taking this role on again! Blades should be sending you some emails so keep an eye out for those.

Some notes and general information:

Blades uses the crossbar app for scheduling so once kids are registered look for them to be loaded into that and download the app to your phone. For those that are familiar with crossbar it's a platform similar to SportsEngine.

We won't hold any team activities or practices until after everybody's state tournament is complete.  Focus on your home team and please put in the work stickhandling and shooting to be ready when we do come together.

We will plan to do some "super weekends" where we will have a couple of practices and some scrimmages to get us ready for Minnsota first. We do have players on the team from all over the state so we will try to accommodate this as much as we can anf group events together.
