The Purdue School of Languages and Cultures Graduate Student Committee is proud to present the 2026 SLC Graduate Symposium. This year’s theme, "Intersections of Humanities and Sciences," encourages a rich dialogue between humanistic inquiry and scientific approaches.
By bringing together emerging scholars from diverse fields, we explore how literary, cultural, and language pedagogical studies intersect with empirical, technological, and interdisciplinary methods. Our program addresses complex questions regarding texts, pedagogical methods, communication, and the fundamental human experience.
We are honored to welcome Dr. William A. Nericcio as our 2026 keynote speaker. Dr. Nericcio is the Director of MALAS (Master of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences) program and a Professor of English and Comparative Literature at San Diego State University, with additional appointments in Chicana/o Studies and the Center for Latin American Studies.
A prominent scholar of cultural studies, visual culture, and media representation. Dr. Nericcio is widely known for his influential work Tex[t]-Mex: Seductive Hallucinations of “Mexicans” in America, as well as the co-authored Talking #browntv and the co-edited volume Cultural Studies in the Digital Age. Across his books, essays, and the long-running Tex[t] Mex and Mextasy projects, Dr. Nericcio investigates the shifting terrain of stereotypes, popular culture, and identity in the U.S.
Keynote Presentation: Dr. Nericcio will present on his current book project, Robotic Erotic Electric.
*English-ASL Interpretation will be provided for the duration of the event.
