Rules and Format

A. FORMATION OF FLIGHTS

This is a three-day tournament organized by flights.
Teams are placed into flights by combined team indexes.

• The six lowest combined indexes form Flight 1

• The next six form Flight 2, and so on

• If two teams have the same combined handicap, the lower combined team index is placed in the lower flight

B. FORMAT OF THE TOURNAMENT

Five 9-hole matches using better ball of partners.
Each team plays every other team in their flight:

• Thursday, June 12: 1 match

• Friday, June 13: 2 matches

• Saturday, June 14: 2 matches

The team earning the most total points in each flight advances to the Championship Shootout.

C. SCORING

Net better ball of one team vs. the other, hole by hole.
Handicaps are adjusted based on the lowest handicap in the match (who plays at scratch).

10-Point Scoring System:

• Each hole is worth 1 point

• Win the hole = 1 point

• Tie the hole = 0.5 points each

• Win the match = +1 bonus point

• Tie the match = +0.5 bonus point each

• Flight Winner = Most total points over 5 matches

D. HANDICAPS

• Players use their lowest index from the last 12 months

• Max 10-stroke difference between partners

• Committee may adjust handicaps before or during the event

E. RULES OF PLAY

• Governed by USGA rules

• WHCC local rules and this program override where noted

• Match play rules apply throughout

F. TEES

• Flights 1–4 play blue tees

• Flights 6–9 play white tees

G. INCOMPLETE FLIGHTS / NO SHOWS

• Flights with fewer than 6 teams play a match vs. net par (with marker)

• If a team withdraws before Match 1, all matches are vs. net par

• If a team withdraws after Match 1, remaining teams receive 5 points

• Teams may compete with only one player

H. WILD CARD

Two wild card teams advance to the shootout:

• One from Flights 1–4

• One from Flights 6–9

The wild card is the team with the highest point total that did not win its flight

I. TIE BREAKS

• First tiebreaker: Head-to-head result

• Second tiebreaker: Points scored in the 5th match

• Same applies for wild card ties

J. THE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOOTOUT

• Format: Two-man alternate shot

• Flights 1–4 shootout: Holes 8, 9, 10

• Flights 6–9 shootout: Holes 9, 10, 11

Each hole, the team with the highest net score is eliminated

• Ties are broken by chip-off

• Final two teams play Hole 18 for the title

• If tied, alternate between Holes 10 and 18 until a champion is crowned

• Shootout handicaps are calculated in advance and applied where they fall by rating
