Dear Sisters and Friends,
I hope that this issue of the IPA Justice Contact Update finds you all well. There is plenty from around our IPA world to keep you interested and up to date.
The photo above is from our recent meeting with Coalition 2030 honing the agreed work-plan to advance the implementation of the SDGs at home and abroad. You should realise that the SDGs are NOT currently a priority for the Irish Government. Indeed the Minister in charge has yet to meet with the SDGs unit to agree a programme of work.
We also agreed on a set of "actions" for the forthcoming High Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York where 37 countries will present on their SDG progress through the Voluntary National Review (VNR) Mechanism. IPA countries up for review include India, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, South Africa and Thailand.
A small number of Coalition 2030 members will attend this HLPF in July in New York. Neither Ireland nor the UK will present their VNR this summer.
I also include a link for an event on June 23rd where we hope to raise a crowd for a letter writing evening to politicians highlighting the human rights implications of the planned watering down of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) What is this?
