ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Single Sword Armed Stage Combat (10:30 am - 12:30 pm)
This workshop will teach you the stage combat basics of how to duel with swords and not get dead. Learn the foundations for how to move, wield, attack and defend with a single edged sword, and look good while doing it. We will go over the Safety, Story, and Style of handling these "elegant weapons from a more civilized time". Cut, thrust, parry, dodge, en garde!
Unarmed Stage Combat (1:30 - 3:30 pm)
This workshop will teach you the stage combat basics of classic fisticuffs. Learn the foundational basics for punching and kicking your way safely through hand to hand combat. We will go over the Safety, Story, and Style of safely executing unarmed brawling techniques with an eye for both stage and screen. Learn what it takes to bring "They fight" from page to stage.
Kevin Robinson is a graduate of the Sheridan College/University of Toronto joint Theatre and Drama Specialist program. He is a certified Fight Instructor with Fight Directors Canada; has been a Stunt Coordinator on multiple shows and films; and was a founding member of the internationally award-winning stunt team Riot A.C.T. Fight Directing Credits include Evil Dead: The Musical (Starvox Productions), Cannibal the Musical (Starvox Productions), A Duel of Honour (True Edge Productions), and Jesus Christ Superstar (Stratford Shakespeare Festival).
Tammy Everett is a certified Fight Instructor with FDC. She is a singer, actor, actor-combatant and martial artist who has performed in Canada, the USA, and Europe working in theatre, music theatre, film, television, and recording studios. Her work as a martial arts instructor has fostered a strong understanding of the body, and a passion for helping students grow safely past their original expectations of their physical abilities, while her work on trauma and the actor roots her practices firmly in creating spaces where actors can explore their characters, and the work safely mentally and emotionally, as well as physically.
