We invite eight high school students and two teachers around the Lowcountry area to apply to our week-long, non-residential Math Research Experience this summer! We are looking for students and teachers excited about solving new math problems.
The program runs July 14-18, 2025 at The Citadel. Students will be supported to present their findings at the 2026 South Carolina Junior Academy of Sciences annual meeting. Teachers will be supported to attend the meeting.
Support for the Math Research Experience for Lowcountry High School Students and Teachers is provided by the Mathematical Association of America and the Mary P. Dolciani Halloran Foundation.

Introduce high school students to the research process from investigation to publication, including how to find problems, how to submit solutions for publication, and how to share the results.
Encourage high school teachers to mentor students in research.
Expose students to mathematics outside the typical high school curriculum.
Submit solutions to problems for publication.
Practice presenting mathematics research orally and written.
Expose students and teachers to the broader mathematical community through attendance at a regional conference.
Create a community of high school students and teachers and Citadel faculty.
Drop off between 8:15am -- 8:30am
Lunch on campus at 11:00am
