Birmingham Group Coordinator: The Birmingham Group Coordinator is a fellow traveler. She handles the trip pre-planning and is the point of contact prior to the trip with Gate 1 Travel. She also collects the money for the trip; handles tips for the Tour Manager, local guides, bus drivers, and porters; and communicates with the group prior to the trip about deadlines, payments, and the schedule. Travel Company Tour Manager: The Travel Company Tour Manager is in charge once the tour is underway. The Tour Manager communicates about the local culture and history of places we will visit and also takes care of many trip-related details. For example, dietary requirements are coordinated with restaurants, entry to areas requiring special tickets are managed swiftly, they facilitate easy check-in at hotels, and they arrange hotel wake-up calls. The Tour Manager communicates what to expect each day at at different sites. They typically post a daily schedule in the hotel lobby of what will happen the next day. This schedule includes departure times and other logistics, weather conditions, and places we will visit.
