Every country has their own requirements for allowing international travelers entry: For both Argentina and Chile, travel is unrestricted right now. For up-to-date information for Argentina, please click here. Click here for information for Chile.
Travel Company requirements: For this trip, our Travel Company does not require travelers to be vaccinated. For up-to-date information, please click here.
Delta Airlines requirements: Click here for the latest requirements and recommendations from Delta.
Please wear an N95 mask in the airport and on the plane: Your friends don't want you to be sick and also don't want to get sick themselves! Order masks here from Amazon. Or you can buy some in the Tokyo airport from a vending machine.
If there are any changes to any vaccination policies and requirements, they will be monitored and posted here. The easiest solution is:
Make sure your COVID-19 vaccinations are up to date.
Up to Date per the CDC means: You are up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines if you have completed a COVID-19 vaccine primary series and received the most recent booster dose recommended for you by CDC. For more information about the COVID-19 vaccine, please click here.
Keep a copy of your vaccine card with you at all times.
Get a QR code with your COVID-19 vaccination records. Several of the pharmacies offer QR codes on their websites if you were vaccinated there, including CVS and Walgreens. Log on to your account and you should be able to download a QR code to your phone. Another way to generate a QR code is through the Clear App, which does have a free version. Click here for more information about the Clear App Vaccine Card.

Medical Devices (C-PAP machines, etc.): on Delta airlines, Medical supplies or equipment are allowed on board as additional items at no extra charge. LATAM Airlines: One free checked bag, one carry-on, and one small bag for international travel (Argentina to Chile or the reverse). Restrictions are on the app (look in My Trips app section) or find measurements for baggage limits here.
LATAM Airlines to Easter Island: One handbag, one carryon (12kg) and one checked bag (23kg) are included for this domestic trip. Pam confirmed this with the airlines on April 1st. Any excess baggage will need to be purchased in advance of travel. Restrictions and the way to purchase luggage are on the LATAM app (look in My Trips app section). There also seem to be hefty fees for overweight bags. Look here for the fee schedule for flights within South America.
Place a copy of your itinerary and a copy of your passport in your luggage. Click to download a luggage itinerary
Add a yellow luggage strap: Several group members have a Travel Company yellow luggage strap. If there aren't extras available, you can buy them directly from the Travel Company. Click here to order a pack of two (they are cheap). Or you can find a similar one here: Click to find one on Amazon. This helps us identify our group luggage as it comes off the conveyor belt. If you have an extra one, please let the Group Coordinator know so someone else can use it.
Take a photo of the outside of your luggage and the interior before traveling so that you can identify it if lost. There are a lot of black suitcases in the world. Make sure you can identify what makes your bag different.
Pack space inside your luggage by adding bubble wrap or paper so you can bring back souvenirs!
If you are traveling with a companion, put half of each other's belongings in each checked bag. If one bag gets delayed or lost, at least you both have clothes for several days.
Your carry-on should always have your passport, keys, money, medication, toiletries and a change of clothing...and maybe a couple of spare pairs of undies just in case any luggage gets lost. Make sure you have what you would need for about 48 hours without your checked luggage.
Photos of other important information: Keep photos of your IDs, credit card fronts and backs, insurance cards, and vaccination cards on your phone. Don't worry, there is another reminder to do this on the pre-travel checklist.
Bring your passport, itinerary, COVID-19 vaccination card, and COVID-19 QR code: You will probably need some of these at most airport security checkpoints (including layovers). Please keep them handy and secure throughout the airports.
Please wear an N95 mask in the airport and on the plane: Your friends don't want you to be sick and also don't want to get sick themselves! Order masks here from Amazon
Tip: Use AirTags in your luggage: These can be placed in the interior zipped compartments of most luggage. AirTags work on Bluetooth and Wifi: Click to find on Amazon
