「Getting Published! Considerations and Advice for Submitting Papers」
Publishing research results in an international academic journal can be a difficult, stressful, and time-consuming endeavor, especially for young researchers who are not native speakers of English. The speaker has extensive experience in assisting his clients in getting published and dealing with both acceptance and rejection. Topics include the differences between a degree thesis and an academic paper, choosing the ‘right’ journal for your submission, issues of ethics (including the thorny issue of plagiarism), preparing a cover letter, communicating with editors and reviewers/referees, introduction of some online tools and resources, benefiting from rejection, and thoughts on becoming an effective writer. The talk will be fast-paced, to cover the above topics, but an extensive study guide (as a PDF file) will be distributed to give details of discussion points and URLs for reference.
