SUMMER CLASS REQUIREMENTS:
With an ever-growing community of members taking classes outside of Elevation over the summer, we are allowing everyone to submit their summer plan for approval with their application
Potential members planning to take summer classes at Elevation must register by April 15th to help prevent class cancellations due to low enrollment. We appreciate your support in attending summer classes whenever possible. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity for students to focus on their most needed skills. Since we work with them throughout the season, we tailor the classes to their specific needs.
For approval, and for planning purposes, please use this as a general Summer dance guide:
For Mini and Junior Company dancers ages 8-10: 16 hours of dance over the summer.
For Teen and Senior Company: 20 hours of dance over the summer.
FOR ALL OF THE ABOVE SUMMER REQUIREMENTS, YOU MAY APPLY FOR APPROVAL OF A PROGRAM OUTSIDE OF ELEVATION.
WINTER PRODUCTION REQUIREMENT:
Performance Company members must participate in at least 1 WINTER PRODUCTION piece, (group and/or lead role,) and therefore must submit the winter production application and AUDITION FOR THE WINTER PRODUCTION WHEN AUDITIONS ARE SCHEDULED. AUDITION APP AVAILABLE APRIL 1ST
CONVENTION REQUIREMENT:
Performance Company Members are required to attend at least 1 Dance Convention in person or virtually during the contracted season. Prices vary and are an additional expense to the Company Member and in 2024, the prices ranged from $225-$400. Members are required to take all classes during the convention in order to satisfy the requirement, as well as, participating in the audition portion of the convention.
NEW POLICY! Cancellations made within 30 days of an event will not be eligible for credits or refunds, as we cannot guarantee a return to that event the following year. Attending conventions is a required commitment for company members. Failure to attend may impact eligibility for the upcoming season if the member plans to reapply.
As soon as dates for the 2025/2026 season are announced, you will be provided with at least 2 convention options and exact pricing.
What is convention and why do we attend?
In previous years, some competitions attended by EDS have included a convention as part of the event. To compete at these events, dancers must also be registered for the convention. These conventions offer two or more days of intensive dance training, typically 6-7 hours per day, led by some of the most sought-after choreographers and teachers in the industry. Classes cover a range of styles, including jazz, ballet, hip-hop, and contemporary.
Attending a convention is a unique opportunity for dancers to train alongside peers from across the country and elevate their dance experience. We believe this exposure is especially valuable for dancers with limited opportunities to train outside of Steamboat, as it broadens their perspective and deepens their growth in the art of dance.
COMPETITION TEAM
Being part of our competition team offers dancers invaluable opportunities for personal and artistic growth. It fosters a sense of camaraderie, discipline, and accountability, as dancers work together. Beyond technical skill development, being on a team enhances performance abilities, adaptability, and versatility by exposing dancers to various styles, choreography, and professional instruction. It also provides unique experiences such as competitions, conventions, and performances, helping dancers build lifelong friendships and lasting memories. At EDS, developing these skills—both as dancers and individuals—is what winning truly looks like.
Dancers may be part of Company without doing Competition Team. However, all members of competition team will be required to participate in Company.
Competition Team will practice together 90 minutes per week in the studio.
