「Poster Session Presentations: Take the Opportunity!」

For a long time, “Poster Sessions” have been a major component at first-rate technical/scientific conferences, in all academic fields, the world over. Research posters emerged in the 1960s, and the poster session became a common conference activity in the 1970s. Although some may regard the poster session as a minor event alongside the more prestigious oral presentations, its value should not be casually dismissed: It is a fantastic opportunity for young researchers to get rich experience in research presentation, in a relatively low-pressure and low-risk setting. It builds confidence and promotes professional networking. The speaker will touch on two main areas: poster design and poster explanation, that is, how to create posters that stop visitors and how to effectively convey your printed words and graphics as a living message. A few examples of “bad” and “good” posters will be shown and briefly analyzed.
