Where should I park?

There is no self-parking at the hotel - valet parking only.  Parking fees are covered by CCBS, whether you are staying overnight or just attending the meetings during the day. If you are not spending the night at the hotel, bring your parking ticket to the retreat registration table and we will exchange it with a prepaid ticket. 

When can I check in to my room?

Normal check-in time is 4pm, but your room might be ready earlier. Go to the hotel registration to check in (give them your name and that you are with UCI CCBS) upon your arrival. If your room is not available, you can either have the hotel concierge hold your luggage for you OR bring it to the Ballroom and leave it in the corner of the room. Retreat staff is not responsible for your luggage. 

Do I need to pay for the hotel room?

The Center has paid for your room, tax, parking, and room internet fees. At check-in, you will be asked for your credit card for incidental expenses (room service, bottled water, WiFi upgrade, etc.) 

Where do I go once I get to the hotel on Friday?

After you check in (if you an overnight guest at the hotel) with the hotel, head to the Bunker Hill/Museum Room area. There will be a retreat registration table to check you in for the weekend.  

Is there WiFi in the meeting rooms?

WiFi is available in the Bunker Hill Ballroom.

Is there WiFi in my hotel room?

The WiFi (3MB Deluxe Internet Access) in your room is included in your retreat registration fee.  If you want the 15MB Premium Internet Access, you will be charged $14.95/day. 


I'm presenting a poster, what do I do with my poster?

You are responsible for setting up and taking down your poster at each poster session. Easels, boards, pins and clips will be set up for you in the room, just before the poster sessions begin on both Friday and Saturday. 

I'm giving a talk, what do I do?

Please check in with Emi and/or Arthur - at the front of the room - prior to the start of your talk block.  You can bring your presentation on a flash drive, or use your own laptop. If you bring it on a flash drive, please load it onto the Macbook we are bringing and check that it runs correctly BEFORE your session. If you want to use your own laptop, it must be able to connect to an HDMI cable, and you should check during one of the coffee breaks before your session that it is compatible with the projection system in the room without making any adjustments; if in doubt, please put your presentation on a flash drive instead. 

Is there an open bar at the reception and banquet?

No - each participant will receive TWO drink tickets each night. Be sure to bring your credit card or cash if you are planning to have more drinks. 

Is there lunch on Sunday?

Sunday lunch is not covered by your retreat registration fee. We do hope to have a group wrap up lunch at the Grand Central Market. If you are interested in joining a group for lunch on Sunday before you head back to the OC, stop by the retreat registration desk to sign up.
