Transportation:
Public Transit: America's Oldest Subway know as "the T," opened in 1897, is still the best way to get around Boston. All underground stations on the red, orange, blue, and green lines have machines to buy tickets and some above ground green line stations have them as well. Obtaining a hard pass Charlie Card (free of charge) can reduce fares and are faster to get through turnstiles. To obtain a Charlie Card, please visit Charlie Card Distribution locations for more information. For aboveground stations on the green line, cash and coins can be used upon entry if you don't already have a ticket. For routes, prices, and schedules, please see the MBTA's website.
