Arriving from Taoyuan International Airport (TPE)
There is an Airport Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line that travels directly from Taoyuan International Airport to the main transportation hub Taipei Main Station MRT. There are two trains, one a local (multiple stops; slower) and an express (fewer stops; faster) that depart from the same track at the same station stop. We advise those arriving to take the express train directly to Taipei Main Station MRT (this station is the final stop on the line); however, both trains will reach the destination so do not worry if you realize you are on the local mid-journey!
From Taipei Main Station passengers will alight the airport train and take the blue line to the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center MRT station. Both lines are within the main station itself and the passage between them are well signed. Walking time is approximately 10 minutes.
From the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center MRT station to Academia Sinica passengers can take a taxi (5 minute drive; approximately 130 NTD / 32 HKD) or a bus (10 minutes; approximately 30 NTD / 7 HKD):
TAXI: To take a taxi, exit the underground MRT station through exit 5 and yellow taxis will be available to be flagged down on the road. Ask to go directly to the Interdisciplinary Research Building of Academia Sinica. This is the main venue for the colloquium and you will be welcomed at the first floor by our registration team. (If the taxi driver is not willing to enter the campus itself, please alight at the side of the road and follow the instructions below for walking to the colloquium venue.)
BUS: To take the bus, use exit 5. Exiting the stairwell, continue straight and cross Yan Jiu Yuan Road (研究院路), then turn left and walk along the sidewalk for only a few seconds until you reach the bus stop. Take the 205 or 212 bus and alight at the Academia Sinica bus stop. Walk the same direction as traffic for one block to reach the main entrance of Academia Sinica. Turn right to enter the campus (no need to check in with main gate staff; please use the sidewalk and enter). Follow the sidewalk until the first road on your right. Turn right and follow this sidewalk as it curves around the first building and eventually ends at the Interdisciplinary Building of Academia Sinica.
