CSU Maritime

The smallest campus of the 23-campus CSU System, CSU Maritime offers 7 majors, specializing in maritime- and ocean-related fields in engineering, business, global studies, transportation, logistics, and oceanography. With just under 1000 students, CSU Maritime is known for its experiential learning focus and global educational experiences. The Training Ship Golden Bear, a former navy research vessel, serves both as a research laboratory and a floating classroom where students learn to operate the ship while navigating the globe to various international ports. You have the option to sign up for the a tour of the ship with registration.


Getting Here

CSU Maritime is located in Vallejo, CA, just off of I-80 next to the Carquinez Strait Bridge.

Parking is free. Please park in Parking Lot A (in front of the Administration Building) or Parking Lot B (to across Maritime Academy Drive from Parking Lot A).

Driving Directions

From Marin, Napa, Sonoma

Take Highway 37 east and go through Vallejo. Exit onto I-80 west toward San Francisco. Exit right at Exit 29 "Maritime Academy Drive" (one exit past the Magazine Street Exit, where Shell and Sinclair gas stations are). Go to the stop light at Rt. 29 Sonoma Boulevard and straight across Sonoma Blvd (Hwy 29) onto Maritime Academy Drive and follow the road onto campus.


From Sacramento

Go west on I-80 toward San Francisco. Exit right at Exit 29 "Maritime Academy Drive" (one exit past the Magazine Street Exit, where Shell and Sinclair gas stations are). Go to the stop light at Rt. 29 Sonoma Boulevard and straight across Sonoma Blvd (Hwy 29) onto Maritime Academy Drive and follow the road onto campus.


From San Francisco and Oakland

Take I-80 East towards Sacramento. Continue on I-80 toward Sacramento and cross the Carquinez Bridge (use right toll lanes). Immediately after the bridge, exit right onto Sonoma Blvd (Hwy. 29 and Exit 29A). Go left at first stop light onto Maritime Academy Drive and follow the road onto campus.


From Concord, Walnut Creek, Pleasanton

Go North on I-680. Cross the Benicia Bridge and head West on I-780 toward Vallejo. From I-780 - Exit onto I-80 west toward San Francisco. Exit right at Exit 29 "Maritime Academy Drive" (one exit past the Magazine Street Exit, where Shell and Sinclair gas stations are). Go to the stop light at Rt. 29 Sonoma Boulevard and straight across Sonoma Blvd (Hwy 29) onto Maritime Academy Drive and follow the road onto campus.


Public Transportation

Public transportation is possible from some parts of the Bay Area but will take a significant amount of time. You can use a combination of Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) to El Cerrito del Norte station connecting to and SolTrans regional bus to Vallejo and Route #3 to CSU Maritime's campus.
