Stipend and materials additional info

Q: I would like to keep my robot and Elegoo starter kit but I am not interested in Pi Top

A: Your can keep the robot and Elegoo material and return the Pi Top and still receive $150 stipend

Q: If I am returning the robot, should I disassemble it?

A: If you are returning the robot, we ask that you DO NOT disassemble. Put it in zipblock bag

Q: I was in Ohana Team but after seeing all the robots, I would like to try it too!

A: Ask to keep the Robot component in the form. You can choose to also keep the Pi Top or not and receive a partial stipend. Matt Williams has offered to set up sessions to get you up to speed to cruise thorough Mars!!!

If you missed part of the camp for justifiable reasons and would like to qualify for the stipend or the technology pack follow the following steps:

In order to still earn the stipend or technology package:

1. Submit a presentation using your choice of presentation format (Video, Google Slides, etc.).

2. Content included should showcase:

  • Your BIG Project (either Ohana Homestead or Mars Rover) - Include the steps & challenges you faced (pictures, videos), and how you persevered!

  • 2 Other Activities you completed during the Summer Physics Camp - Include what you learned from each activity (pictures, videos).

  • How has this camp impacted your future goals?

3. Submit it directly to allobet@lanl.gov

More opportunities:

Here is information about additional opportunities to continue working with Matthew Williams to further your knowledge of coding and robotics! THANK YOU, Matt!

1. Continue a virtual course using the robots you already currently have. Matt is planning to add a proximity sensor and shield to the robots, so your robot can turn into a little fighting “sumobot” robot! If you have any ideas, Matt would be happy to incorporate those into this session too!

· The course will be once a week for 3 hours, Thursday 1 p.m.-4 p.m. MST using the same Google Meet link he used for the work sessions: http://meet.google.com/cmc-xoiv-qmx

2. Join an in-person robotics program in Espanola. This group will build a large land rover - think of a 2 foot by 2 foot metal robot with 4 big motors and all terrain tires that is completely autonomous! Matt will explore the possibility of adding an AI/Machine learning capabilities to it, so it sees things with a video camera and can distinguish different objects. Girls will get to decide what missions the group would like to design the robot to accomplish.

· The course sessions will take place in Espanola on Sunday from 1:00p.m.-4:00p.m. Please email him for more information regarding starting date. His email is matthewwilliamsnm@gmail.com

3. For girls who were part of the Ohana project or who haven't completely finished their robot, Matt will host extra help sessions to get you up and running.

· Please email him directly to arrange times and places to make this happen. His email is matthewwilliamsnm@gmail.com

I hope you take advantage of these opportunities to continue to foster your interest in coding and robotics. Please reach out with any questions you may have.
