Naples Lakes Country Club

Golf Tournament

Supporting Home Base SWFL

Sunday, November 14, 2021 could not have been a better day for our golf tournament and for Home Base.  In the days up to and including the tournament, we raised more than $42,000 for Home Base.

Our streets were lined with more than 700 American flags to help celebrate our country and our veterans.

Each of our two shotgun starts began with the singing of the National Anthem by our own Gary Tincu, who also led the group in the Pledge of Allegance.  The Golden Gate High School Junior R.O.T.C served as Color Guard. We also heard from  NLCC Pat Laird and Home Base Jason Cooper. Click here to see the morning opening ceremony.

All of the golfers passed by the 8th hole tee where they found this troop of cadets prepared to do push-ups, for a price. The boys got $1.00 for each push-up and the girls got $2.00 for each.went Their combined efforts through the day raised $2,650, half of which  to Home Base and the other half went to  help support the Golden Gate H.S. JROTC.

The troop was operating under the supervision of Col. Ian Falk (ret.) of Naples Lakes.

Here's one of the cadets going at it under the watchful eyes of his colleagues and of John Harrison and Pat Laird (red shirts) who were co-chairs of the day's events.

The day's events concluded with a gathering at the clubhouse. It was both festive and somber.

If you click here, you will get an idea of the mood of the crowd as the different branches of the military were recognized.

Armando Hernandez, Home Base SWFL Program Director explained how Home Base serves veterans in the area, and we heard from Matt Loebs who gave us a real-life example of how Home Base impacted his life and the life of his family.

There could not have been a more fitting close for our event than the playing of Taps by Naple Lakes' proud Marine, Joe Johnston. Click here so you can see and hear this part of our program. Be sure to turn up your volume.

Thank you to all who supported Home Base and our veterans.
