2024 Sandhill Crane Bicycle Tour March 23

The Sandhill Cranes start arriving in mid February and there’s opportunities to safely ride and view this phenomenon.      Remember to be safe and to be courteous to those you encounter.  The Sandhill Crane migration occurs despite the weather and everyting else happening and by bicycle you get the chance of a uniquely healthy way to view this event in rural Hall County.   There will be two routes   Both routes take riders to the Crane Trust Visitor Center.

Early starts and you’ll find crisp temperatures that can turn quite pleasant as the day progresses.   Sandhill Cranes can be found spreading from the river to the surrounding fields and pastures as the sun moves across the sky. As sunset approaches, the Cranes find their way back to the river’s safety during the night. There will be photographers capturing images of the migration and maybe our ride along these routes.

Respect private propery   There is public parking at the Alda Road and Shoemaker Road intersection next to the observation area.  The lands where you will see the Cranes are private property, the roads on the routes below are public.  Please keep to public areeas.
