2020 Census Resources for Libraries

What is the Census?

The decennial Census is mandated by the Constitution and conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, a nonpartisan government agency. The 2020 Census counts the population in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands). This will be the first Census to allow online responses.

Developed by the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, this map shows how the Census Bureau will be contacting households to complete the census and strategies for hard to count areas.

Find out if your community has historically had a low response rate and discover characteristics that may lead to a lower completion rate.

This tool, developed by the Ohio State government allows you to find contact information for Complete Count Committees in your area.
