Canberra Grammar School's canteen will be open during the ASTC and will offer a variety of delicious meals and snacks at affordable prices. See the Food & Drink page for further details.
I've also added a Results page on which we intend to post live results via a Twitter feed.
We intend to broadcast a 'feature match' via DGT boards for each round (note that the ACT only has four DGT boards so we will only cover only match per round).

For most representative teams, playing at the Australian Schools Teams Chess Championships is the culmination of many months of training and developing chess skills.
Last year, the South Australian Junior Chess League recognised the efforts of representative teams which finished fourth, fifth and sixth in their divisions by awarding players inscribed finalist medals.
I'm thrilled to say that David and Sabrina Koetsier of Chesslife have sponsored inscribed finalist medals which will be awarded to players on teams finishing fourth to sixth at the 2019 ASTC.
Thank you, Chesslife!

I've published the Secondary Open division team lists on the website and should have the Primary and Secondary Girls team lists published shortly. Our aim is to have ASTC draws published on the website by Friday 15th November. At this stage, we are still awaiting the outcome of the NSW Primary Final. You can follow the ongoing results here.

Over the weekend, the ACT Junior Chess League held its ACT Playoffs. As we run our school finals with rapid time controls, the playoff ensures that the schools which are strongest under ASTC conditions (i.e. 60 minute plus ten second time controls) represent the ACT. Congratulations to the winners: Canberra Grammar School (Secondary Open), Lyneham High School (Secondary Girls), Garran Primary School (Primary Open) and Turner School (Primary Girls).

This weekend just passed saw the running of the Queensland State Interschools Finals. Event organiser Gardiner Chess did a brilliant job in promoting the competition, progressively updating results throughout the tournament as well as transmitting live games from the top boards of the Primary Open and Secondary Open divisions.
Congratulations to Sunnybank Hills State School (QLD Primary Girls State Champions), King's Christian College (QLD Secondary Girls State Champions), Somerset College (QLD Primary Open State Champions) and Anglican Church Grammar School (QLD Secondary Open State Champions). We look forward to seeing these teams in Canberra.

I've updated the Getting Around section of the website to incorporate details of the new ACT weekend bus timetable for those teams planning on using public transport to travel to/from the venue.
A big congratulations to Perth Modern School on winning both the WA State Secondary Open and Secondary Girls Championships and to Nedlands Primary School on winning both the WA State Primary Open and Primary Girls Championships (see the CAWA website for further details).
Congratulations also to East Marden Primary School which had a whopping win in the South Australian Primary A Grade Championship, finishing thirteen points ahead of the next highest placed team in their division.
Other states are inexorably marching towards their State Finals. Here in the ACT, we hold playoffs after the conclusion of our ACT Finals to decide which schools will represent the territory at the ASTC (this year's playoffs will not be held until the end of October). Our 2019 ACT School Champions are: Turner School (Primary Girls), Garran Primary School (Primary Open), Lyneham High School (Secondary Girls) and Canberra Grammar School (Secondary Open).

It's now less than three months until the 2019 ASTC and we have received our first entry!
Congratulations to Neutral Bay Public School which will represent NSW in the Primary Girls Division. Neutral Bay has previously represented NSW at the ASTC in 2017 and 2018. At the 2018 ASTC in Adelaide, they finished third in a strong field of girls teams.

We thank the East Hotel for offering all ASTC participants 10% off their flexible nightly rate. Please see the Accommodation page for further details.
We are continuing to update the ASTC website. A Team Entry form has been added to the Entry Details page and additional information has been added to the Venue page. We are excited to have the use of Canberra Grammar School's magnificent War Memorial Hall for our ASTC playing hall. This hall was also used at the 2015 Australian Junior Chess Championships and has since undergone refurbishment.

Welcome to the 2019 Australian Schools Teams Championships website! We will be updating the website with further information over the coming months.
All states and territories are well underway with their interschool chess events. The first state to hold an ASTC qualifier is Western Australia, with the WA School Chess League running its Primary and Secondary Girls Championship on August 26th.
We wish all the players the very best of luck and hope to see the winning teams in Canberra at the end of the year.
